FAQ about CBD

WHAT IS CBD?

CBD is a non-psychoactive substance taken from the Cannabis Sativa (or Hemp) plant. CBD stands for Cannabidiol, one of over a hundred cannabinoids found in the plant.
There are estimated to be over a hundred cannabinoids in the plant. CBD tends to be from strains high in CBD, but low in THC, the active ingredient in marijuana. It is then further refined so as to contain less than 0.2% of THC, so that it is completely legal in the UK.

IS CBD LEGAL IN THE UK?

Yes, as long as it contains trace or undetectable levels of THC (tetrahydrocannabinoid), certainly less than 0.2%.

IS CBD SAFE?

Yes, it is heavily regulated as a food supplement and our products are lab tested to make sure they meet UK Food standards. The product is completely safe for human consumption (and animals, but that’s for another day). If your supplier can’t product lab reports when asked, then don’t buy from them.

DO I NEED A PRESCRIPTION?

You don’t need a prescription, but if you are on medication or have a health condition, including pregnancy or breastfeeding, check with your GP. The recommended daily dose is 70mg.

DOES CBD GET YOU HIGH?

No, CBD is said to give people a lot of positive effects, including becoming calm and less anxious, but it won’t get you high. Our products have little or no THC, the active ingredient in marijuana, and CBD operates in the body in a completely different way to THC.

HOW IS CBD DIFFERENT FROM HEMP OIL?

Hemp (or hempseed) Oil is made from crushing hemp seeds, whereas CBD Oil is made using an extraction process from the stalks, leaves and flowers of the plant. While Hemp Oil may be good for you and have health benefits of its own, it doesn’t contain CBD and so doesn’t have any of the properties of CBD.

WHAT ARE THE EFFECTS OF CBD?

CBD is typically used to help people wind down or relax, to improve sports recovery, or to soothe their skin. It is used by people of any age who are looking for a natural plant-based remedy to promote wellbeing in all aspects of their life.

We don’t make any medical claims for CBD, which is sold as a food supplement to promote wellbeing. It is thought it may act on systems in the body which maintain physiological, emotional and cognitive stability.

Everyone is different, and all report different effects. You can test your response to different doses at varying times of day to fine-tune your relaxation, and check dosage calculators online.

CBD is safe to take, non-addictive, and non-psychoactive. And it won’t give you the munchies.

CAN I TRAVEL WITH CBD?

If you’re taking it outside the UK, you will need to check the legal rules in other countries, as they are evolving all the time.

HOW DO YOU TAKE CBD?

Everyone has a different preference for taking CBD. Some might want a ‘quick hit’ from taking oils or sprays under the tongue, or vaping. Others may want pop a sweet or apply it for local effects on the skin. Most new users start at a low dose and work up to a level that is right for their lifestyle. A maximum dose might be 28 drops of 5% CBD in a day. A bottle of oil can last a long time, depending on your preferred strength and dosage. CBD effects might not start for an hour or so, and they last for a few hours depending on your experience and your size. Check out the detailed information on our Home page.

IS CBD A FOOD OR A MEDICINE?

Cannabidiol (CBD) is a natural constituent of hemp and is a dietary supplement.
